Marlon Humphrey Steps Into Hollywood Role, Produces Film Honoring Alabama Football Legacy

The former Alabama Crimson Tide star is the executive producer of a powerful new documentary titled “Nothing but a Winner: The Alabama Football Story” a cinematic tribute to the program that shaped generations, including his own.

Humphrey recently appeared on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, where he spoke about what it meant to bring this story to life:

“It was an opportunity to kind of be a part of something pretty special,” Humphrey said. “I saw a good opportunity to not only do something for my alma mater and create this great story, but I played underneath Coach Saban… and it’s come together just great.”
Telling Bama’s Story from Bear to Saban

The documentary dives deep into Alabama’s rich football history, spotlighting legendary coaches Paul “Bear” Bryant and Nick Saban  two architects of the program’s unmatched legacy. From the grit of the 1960s to the dynasty of the 2010s, Nothing but a Winner captures the heart of Alabama football.

Though Marlon doesn’t appear in the film, he didn’t want the spotlight.

“To create something special, it’s not really all about you,” he explained. “It’s about what you put into it, who you put around you to help out.”

The red-carpet premiere took place at the historic Lyric Theatre in Birmingham, and the film will officially hit theaters nationwide on July 31. Tickets are already available online.
Alabama Legends in the Spotlight

While Marlon stayed behind the scenes, the film features interviews with several Alabama greats from the NFL, including:

Jalen Hurts (Eagles)

DeVonta Smith (Eagles)

Jerry Jeudy (Browns)

Jonathan Allen (Commanders)

Jaylen Waddle (Dolphins)

C.J. Mosley (Jets)

Also featured is Marlon’s father, Bobby Humphrey, who carved his own name into Bama history as the school’s all-time rushing leader during his playing days (1985–1988). His journey from selling Cokes at Legion Field to wearing Crimson and White is a story in itself.

“I grew up in the projects near Legion Field,” Bobby shared. “I used to tell the other Coke sellers, ‘One day, I’ll be playing down there.’ They didn’t believe me. But Ray Perkins knocked on my door, and the dream became real.”

Bobby’s voice is critical to the documentary, especially when discussing Alabama’s racial integration in the 1970s  a historic moment led by Coach Bryant.

“He was the one who pushed the issue,” Bobby said. “The USC game, bringing Black players into the spotlight… he told them he’d protect them, and they trusted him. That story is in the film  and it’s powerful.”
The Humphrey Legacy Lives On

Bobby and Marlon Humphrey represent two proud generations of Alabama greatness  both rising from Birmingham, both wearing the Crimson Tide colors with pride, and now both giving back to the legacy in their own way.

Marlon, a first-team All-American and national champion at Alabama, has gone on to become a 3-time All-Pro and 4-time Pro Bowler with the Baltimore Ravens. Yet, his heart still beats for Tuscaloosa.

Now, with Nothing but a Winner, he’s honoring not just the players and coaches  but the culture, community, and unbreakable spirit of Alabama football.
